My Story

Hello, I'm Artistic Director Michael Halkusis, OCT for The Young Actors Studio. I fell in love with acting at the tender age of 11: getting the lead as Tony in West Side Story! I was mesmerized! I loved the feeling that acting gave me, and for the first time I felt pride in myself and my accomplishments. Acting taught me to work hard, take risks and be imaginative. These tools worked well with me as I succeeded in the industry for 16 fast paced years as actor and director. When I put acting/directing aside to become a father and professional teacher, I wondered if I would ever re-connect with my love for acting. My first job out of Teacher's College...teaching Rotary Drama! I have been blessed to teach Drama for over 10 years to all ages in TDSB and YRDSB. Being able to show young learners the theatrical beauty they possess has been fantastic. I am so blessed and happy to continue to share to your child the joys of acting at The Young Actors Studio. :)
YAS! COLLABORATIVE , CREATIVE AND FUN!!
